May
1, 2008 -HAPPY
MAY DAY! Today, the "Lily
of the Valley" or
"muguet" is traditionally sold all over France.
In the language of flowers, this lovely, sweet-smelling flower
means the "return of happiness", sweetness, and humility. This delicate flower makes a brief appearance
in the manga and anime, but I found that the anime seems to give
it more meaning
and signification than the manga.

Here
are some personal pictures of the "Lily of Valley"
that I purchased to celebrate this day!

the menu: Author,
with a biography of Kaoru Mori and Anime,
with the scans of the Japanese and English DVDs. As
expected, there are some minor and major differences between the
anime and the manga. Certain names and major scenes were changed,
sometimes for the better in my humble opinion. But the fans are
divided in this. Perhaps I'll make a list showing these differences
accompanied with some screen captures.

March
26, 2008 At last, I've found some time and energy to
continue my new site about Emma! I had started working on it
last year, but my other fansite "Candy
& Terry's Paradise"
had kept me very busy with frequent updates. Since having recently read
the english and french version of the mangas up to Volume 6, I feel
even more motivated to continue and share my admiration and fondness
for this endearing Victorian couple, Emma and William. I first saw
the anime before reading the manga and though it started off a bit
slow, I enjoyed the tranquil pace as I was able to appreciate the
wonderful historical details of this Victorian era. The anime is
beautifully rendered to express the ambience and social culture
of this time. The characters are also exquisitely drawn and
the background richly illustrated. What adds to the wonderful charm
of this anime is the beautiful music by Ryou Kunihiko. You're instantly
drawn into Emma's world with its soft and lilting tunes. The
manga may have neither the color nor the music to "animate"
the story, but the characters are more defined and the storyline so richly
told that it's a must-read for all Emma fans who have
seen the anime first before reading the manga. I'll be working
on this site over the next few weeks so you're welcome to check back as new
updates are available! The site will be in english and french! I
hope you'll enjoy your visit!
